Maurus Hermann

Maurus Hermann (born February 19, 1726 in Schwandorf ; † June 7, 1809 there ) was a German Benedictine and abbot of the Weißenohe monastery .

Life

Maurus Hermann from Schwandorf made his profession on December 8th, 1744 and first started on March 29th, 1750, he was elected abbot on January 11th, 1758. On February 22nd, 1802 an electoral commission seized the monastery property. After secularization , he retired to Schwandorf, his hometown, where he died on June 7, 1809. On his simple tombstone attached to the churchyard wall in Schwandorf, it says: “This is where the Hochw. high income Maurus Hermann, 51 year old abbot of the dissolved Weisenoe Monastery, born on February 19th, 1726 in Schwandorf, died on June 7th, 1809 there. Unforgettable for his own, Unforgettable for the poor. His ashes rest gently. "

He wrote from 1758 to 1768 for his monastery Salbuch , the short history of the monastery is preceded by and in 1793 a "Historia Monasterii Weissenoensis" in Folio , with its completed on April 9, 1758 benediction ends.
