The Mausoleum of the Shirvanshahs (built 1435 / 1436 ) is a rectangular building on the grounds of the Palace of the Shirvanshahs in Baku , Azerbaijan . It is crowned by a hexahedral dome , which is decorated with stars on the outside. The portal is decorated with numerous ornaments and is considered an outstanding example of the architecture of medieval Azerbaijan.

There is an inscription above the entrance to the mausoleum, which states, among other things, the builder and the year of completion:

Chalilullah [I.], the greatest sultan, the great Shirvan Shah , the namesake of the divine prophet, the defender of the religion, ordered in 839 (= 1435/1436) to build this clear tomb for his mother and son.

The name of the builder - Ali - is also on two teardrop-shaped medallions above the portal (see illustration). In the central part of the building, under the wooden floor, lies the crypt with the grave sites; Children's graves are in two rooms and adult graves in three rooms. In the mausoleum there are, however, 14 other graves, all of which are attributed to the ruling family.

In 2000, the Mausoleum of Shirvanshahs was conducted as part of the historic city İçəri Şəhər in the World Heritage Site of UNESCO added.
