Mavado (2008)

Mavado (real name David Constantine Brooks ; born November 30, 1981 in Kingston , Jamaica ) is a Jamaican dancehall artist.

Life

Mavado grew up in an area called the "Cassava Piece", which is also called "Gullyside", a small ghetto in the heart of Kingston, Jamaica. Since life was dangerous there, Mavado faced many difficulties even in his youth. There were two main influences in his life that led him to pursue a career in the music business. His grandmother, who raised him, took him to church every Sunday and thus helped spark his passion for music. Bounty Killer was the second big influence for Mavado, who is both his role model and label colleague.

His debut single "Real McKoy" made him an overnight sensation in the Jamaican dancehall scene in 2004 and was the cornerstone of his future success.

Along with Busy Signal, Mavado is one of the most famous artists in the " Alliance ", a group of dancehall artists founded by Bounty Killer .
