The Max Planck Institute for Software Systems was founded in 2004. It is currently under construction and will be home to 5 departments, which are spread across the Saarbrücken (3 departments) and Kaiserslautern (2 departments) locations . The founding director has been Peter Druschel since summer 2005 .

Research task

The institute aims to research the scientific basis of complex software systems. These already form the basis of many business processes, data networks and research in aircraft and automotive engineering and require smooth functioning.

International Max Planck Research School (IMPRS)

In cooperation with Saarland University , the International Max Planck Research School for Computer Science (IMPRS-CS) was founded in 2000. It is the English-language graduate school of the MPI for Computer Science and the MPI for Software Systems . In an international research environment, young scientists are promoted and led to a doctorate. The spokesman for the IMPRS is Gerhard Weikum .
