The ASKÖ Salzburg West sports center , officially Max-Aicher-Stadion due to name sponsorship , is a soccer stadium in Salzburg - Maxglan owned by ASKÖ . The home games of SV Austria Salzburg have been played in it since the 2007/08 season .

history

The stadium was opened in 1999 as ASKÖ Sportanlage West and used by ASK Salzburg for its games. After the club had to file for bankruptcy in May 2006, the game could not be financially maintained on the previous place.

In the summer of 2007, SV Austria Salzburg moved into the stadium, which initially served as a home ground for games in 1st Class North, the 6th highest division in Austria. In the following three seasons, Austria made it to the Regionalliga West , the third highest division.

For the 2010/11 season, the telephone provider MyPhone Austria acquired the naming rights to the stadium, which from then on was officially called MyPhone Austria Stadium .

Due to the popularity of the club, the stadium regularly reached its capacity limits in the amateur leagues. In the first season of the regional league, the average number of visitors was 1,290 per game. This cut was also achieved in the following years.

When the professional license for the first division was applied for in the 2014/15 season , the Bundesliga checked the stadium for its first division suitability; Austria received the license. In the course of the promotion, it was announced that the stadium would be adapted and expanded to meet the requirements of the league in summer 2015. The adaptations essentially consist of the construction of a new rear grandstand and an HDTV- compatible floodlight system . The new lighting system was erected in just under two months at the end of 2015 and is equipped with 144 LED lights on twelve instead of the usual four masts. The ASKÖ Salzburg West sports center is the first Austrian stadium with an LED floodlight system. However, high-security games cannot be held in this stadium, and Austria switched to the alternative stadium in Schwanenstadt in the 2015/16 season.

In March 2018, the stadium was renamed the Erich Misoph Volltreffer Stadion , based on Erich Misoph, together with the sponsor Volltreffer.com . Misoph was a founding member of the “1. Trailer Club Austria Salzburg ”, one of the oldest still active fan clubs in Austria.

In April 2019 Max Aicher joined SV Austria Salzburg as a sponsor. Since then the stadium has been officially called the Max Aicher Stadium .
