Life

Buldermann was born in the then independent town of Pankow at the gates of the capital of Prussia . After his school days he was drawn into the distance and went to America in 1885. At first he struggled with various activities. Determined he finally found success as a clairvoyant, memory acrobat, number artist and illusionist . Under his stage name Max Berol-Konorah he went on a world tour of important variety shows . In 1901 he returned to Germany as a successful artist.

Services

His special achievement is the co-founding of the International Artist Lodge (IAL) in 1901. From 1904 he was President of the IAL for 25 years, from 1908 he was full-time in this position. The IAL was a trade union association that campaigned for the living conditions of artists, assisted with legal questions and court proceedings and wanted to secure the necessary recognition for the profession through public relations work. This also included the creation of a retirement pension fund. In his role he organized several strikes against the directors' association. The aim was also to achieve collective agreements with the entertainment companies. In 1905, together with the lawyer Richard Treitel , he published the manual "Artistenrecht". With his activities he succeeded in uniting the individual artist associations in an international association and thus strengthening the negotiating power with the association of vaudeville and circus directors.

In 1921, under his leadership, the IAL became a member of the cartel of the General Free Employees' Association . After Siegfried Aufhäuser's election as chairman of the new cartel union, he organized, with his support, the artist exchange with the young Soviet Union , thus securing long-term engagements for the artists from 1923 onwards. In 1924 he organized the variety show in Berlin.

As an artist, he performed with his wife Nora Belmonte.
