history

In 1908, the trained businessman Max Felchlin began trading honey in Schwyz . In 1913 he named his business Honigzentrale Schwyz. He thus laid the foundation stone for the company. The first manufactory was established in the 1920s and the range was expanded to include self-made chocolate. During the Second World War Felchlin produced the pudding powder Anyway, which gained national fame. Max Felchlin handed over management to his son in 1962. In the 1970s, Max Felchlin junior built a new production facility in Ibach SZ , and the sole proprietorship was converted into a stock corporation.

Felchlin Jr. arranged his succession in 1990 with the aim of maintaining the company's independence in the long term. Christian Aschwanden became the new managing director. Under his leadership, Max Felchlin AG built a new production facility in Ibach at the turn of the millennium and continues to produce everything from cocoa beans to fine chocolate in Schwyz.

Various fine chocolate manufacturers have their products produced by Felchlin. The company also supplies various pastry shops and confectionery shops in Switzerland.

Special

In 1999, the company was the first Swiss chocolate manufacturer to introduce the term “ Grand Cru ” for a selection of its couvertures (high-quality chocolate that is further processed) . This means that only fine cocoa from a defined origin is used for these couvertures. For this purpose, Felchlin's chief buyer travels regularly to the regions of origin and buys the cocoa there directly. In this way, Max Felchlin AG is taking on a pioneering role in the chocolate industry when it comes to sustainability . This peculiarity has already been documented several times in the media.

The noble chocolate Grand Cru Maracaibo Clasificado 65% was voted “world's best chocolate” in 2004 by the Accademia Maestri Pasticceri Italiani organization .
