Ibach is a town in the municipality of Schwyz , District Schwyz , in the canton of Schwyz in Switzerland .
geography
Ibach is directly adjacent to the districts of Schwyz , Seewen , Oberschönenbuch and the Ingenbohl district, which belongs to the Ingenbohl-Brunnen community.
A central element of Ibach is the Muota , which is also shown in the town's coat of arms. When it flows through Ibach, the Muota makes a change of direction of about 45 degrees exactly in the center of the village, which is why Ibach is often said to be on the so-called Muotaknie.
In regional parlance, the muota is also the border between Oberibach and Unteribach . It is crossed by two bridges, of which the more frequently used one is directly on the 'Muotaknie'.

history
The district was first mentioned in 1217 as Ibach. It forms a bridgehead on the Muota for the routes to Ingenbohl, Morschach and Muotathal. In the High Middle Ages , the Ibacher Meierhof of the Einsiedeln Abbey was the center of a large complex of goods in the Schwyz valley.
At the rear bridge is the Landsgemeindeplatz of the old state of Schwyz , where the members of the Oberallmeindkorporation Schwyz (OAK) meet every third Sunday in October in the Ring zu Ibach.
Public facilities
- Schools: Ibach has two primary schools that are close to one another, which in addition to Ibach also cover the Oberschönenbuch part of the municipality, the Christophorus schoolhouse and the Muota schoolhouse , as well as a preschool , the old schoolhouse . Ibach also serves as the location for the Rubiswil secondary school , which covers the entire Schwyz community.
- Churches: In addition to smaller, less frequently used chapels such as the Alder Chapel of the Holy Cross , Ibach has its own Roman Catholic church , which is characteristic of the village .
