Max Gasser (lawyer)

Max Gasser (born May 2, 1886 in Esslingen am Neckar ; † August 6, 1961 ) was a German lawyer.

Career

Gasser studied law in Tübingen and Berlin from 1904 to 1908 . In 1909 he received his doctorate in Tübingen. During the First World War he did military service. In 1919 he joined the Württemberg judicial service. He was initially employed in the Ministry of Justice, in 1922 he became a judge at the Esslingen District Court , where he later became a labor judge. In 1940 he came to the Stuttgart Regional Court and the Stuttgart Higher Regional Court the following year . From 1942 on, he was also a judge at the Württemberg Court of Justice.

After the end of the Second World War, Gasser, who had not joined the NSDAP , was brought to the Stuttgart Ministry of Justice as an unencumbered person. There he was responsible for personnel matters and for organizing the courts. In 1950 he was appointed President of the Stuttgart Regional Court. He retired in March 1952.

Gasser remained unmarried throughout his life. From 1936 onwards he lived with his sister Helene. His estate was donated to the Stuttgart Main State Archives in November 1999 .

Honors

  • 1952: Cross of Merit (Steckkreuz) of the Federal Republic of Germany, on the occasion of his retirement.
