Max Gertsch (writer)

Max Gertsch (born January 13, 1893 in Liestal ; † May 18, 1979 in Zollikerberg near Zollikon ) was a Swiss lawyer and writer.

Life

Max Gertsch came from a family of officers and, after studying law at the University of Bern, worked as a legal consultant in Zurich . He is considered one of the most famous playwrights in German-speaking Switzerland between 1930 and 1960; his dramatic work is particularly influenced by the New Objectivity . From 1947 to 1951 he published his own culture magazine called Das Hühnerei .
