Max Otto Kramer (born September 8, 1903 in Cologne ; † June 1986 in Pacific Palisades ) was a German scientist and aeronautical engineer who was primarily concerned with the construction of remote-controlled weapons.

Life

In 1938 he filed a patent with which the flow resistance could be significantly reduced. In the same year he constructed a radio-controlled bomb weighing 250 kg on behalf of the German Aviation Research Institute in Adlershof . During the Second World War , the research was given to the Ruhrstahl company in 1940 , and Max Kramer developed the Fritz X and Ruhrstahl X-4 in the Brackwede works . For the controls, he used spoilers in a cross-shaped tail unit, which was extremely unconventional in Germany up to this point.

After the war he worked for Rockwell International , for which he analyzed the structure of the dolphin skin . In 1969 he submitted a final US patent: "US000003585953A - MEANS AND METHOD FOR STABILIZING LAMINAR BOUNDARY LAYER FLOW". At that time he lived in Pacific Palisades .
