Max Schröder created sacred, industrial and private buildings. The religious buildings include the Offenbach Christ Church and the Old Catholic Church in Wiesbaden ( Friedenskirche ). Both churches were built in the neo-Gothic style .

Schröder's industrial buildings include the " Bernardbau " factory building from 1896 on the lower Herrnstrasse in Offenbach, which has meanwhile been classified as an industrial monument . It was built for the Bernard brothers' snuff manufacturers . The Bernardbau now houses the House of City History with a museum and city archive.

Schröder's private buildings include the residential and commercial building Bismarckstrasse 123 in Offenbach, which is classified as a cultural monument. The building was commissioned by the leather goods manufacturer Friedrich Leissler and erected in 1904.

He himself lived in the house he had built at Ludwigstrasse 64-66 in Offenbach, which is also a listed building.

The works of Max Schröder make an important contribution to the history of historicism in Offenbach.
