Max Stahlschmidt
Max Stahlschmidt (born July 22, 1854 in Berlin , † 1918 in Weimar ) was a German landscape and animal painter and etcher.
Stahlschmidt studied at the Royal Academy of Arts in Berlin from 1885 under Paul Friedrich Meyerheim and Eugen Bracht , then at the Grand Ducal Saxon Art School in Weimar under Albert Brendel and Max Thedy . Around 1914 he built in Berlin-Charlottenburg, Guerickestr. 2a an artist's studio, after which he worked as a freelance artist in Weimar and became a member of the Weimar Radierverein. He presented his works a. a. in the Munich Glass Palace .
The year and place of death Stahlschmidt remain completely unclear. Most sources give 1918 and Weimar, according to other sources Stahlschmidt still operated his Berlin studio in 1927. There are also some paintings dated after 1918.
