Maxim Vorobiev ( Russian Максим Никифорович Воробьёв ., Scientific transliteration Maksim Vorob'ev Nikiforovič * August 6 . Jul / 17th August  1787 greg. In Pskov ; † August 30 jul. / 11. September  1855 greg. In Saint Petersburg ) was a Russian landscape painter of romanticism . His work has influenced many Russian painters.

Vorobjow was the child of a family of soldiers who were employed as guards at the Russian Academy of Arts in St. Petersburg. There he was admitted to study architecture in 1798, but graduated as a landscape painter in 1809.

In 1814 he became a teacher, in 1815 an associate professor, in 1823 a professor and in 1843 an honorary professor. He had many students, including well-known painters such as Ivan Aivazovsky , Alexei Bogolyubov and Lev Lagorio .

In addition to teaching, Vorobyov painted all his life. He painted cities and the sea, architectural monuments, landscapes and war scenes. He traveled a lot, especially in 1813 with Russian troops; a time when some of his most memorable pictures were taken. The pictures he created during his travels to the Middle East and the theaters of war on the Danube in the late 1820s were some of his best known.
