Maximilian Heinrich (Wied-Runkel)

Maximilian Heinrich zu Wied (* May 1, 1681 ; † December 19, 1706 ) was Count zu Wied-Runkel from the Runkel family .

He was a son of Georg Hermann Reinhard zu Wied (* 1640; † 1690) and his second wife Johanna Elisabeth zu Leiningen-Westerburg (* 1659; † 1708).

From his paternal grandfather, Friedrich "the Elder" zu Wied (* 1618; † 1698), he received on August 27, 1692, initially under guardianship, the "Upper County of Wied", including Altwied Castle , the Isenburg area and the Mayscheid parish and the glory Meud, who had previously belonged to the "Lower County of Wied". There he founded the younger line Wied-Runkel .

He entered the service of Landgrave Ernst Ludwig von Hessen-Darmstadt , where he rose to the rank of Rittmeister .

He married on August 29, 1704 in Detmold Sophia Florentina (* September 8, 1683; † April 23, 1758), daughter of Count Simon Heinrich zur Lippe-Detmold . With her he had two sons:

  • Karl Wilhelm Alexander Emil (June 19, 1706 - November 30, 1771)

He was killed in a duel on December 19, 1706. His underage son Johann Ludwig Adolf inherited him as Count von Wied-Runkel.
