Maximilian Weigel

Maximilian Weigel (born January 18, 1881 in Geyer ; † after 1952) was a German lawyer, politician ( DDP , LDPD ) and dialect poet from the Ore Mountains .

Life

Weigel first attended a community school and then a grammar school. After graduating from high school, he studied law in Lausanne and Leipzig. In 1909 he did his doctorate with Heinrich Triepel as a doctoral supervisor at the University of Tübingen with the dissertation The Doctrine of Parliamentary Discipline in Comparative Law for the Dr. sc. pol. At that time he was working as a trainee lawyer in Annaberg in the Ore Mountains , where he established himself as a lawyer and notary from 1910.

While still a student, Weigel joined the National Liberal Party in 1906 , of which he remained until it was dissolved in 1918. From 1919 to 1933 he was a member of the German Democratic Party . For this party he belonged as a representative of the 3rd constituency during the second electoral period 1922–1926 in the Saxon state parliament .

In addition, from 1925 he was active in local politics as a city councilor for Annaberg, which he headed from 1928 as head. As such, he was an elected member of the district committee of the district administration of Annaberg . After the Second World War he joined the LDPD and from July 1945 was deputy chairman of the anti-fascist working committee in the Annaberg district and again a member of the state parliament during the first electoral period from 1946 to 1950 . In addition, from 1945 to 1952 he headed the LDPD district association Annaberg and as such was exposed to aggressive action by the SED and the Soviet district command against his party. From September 30, 1946 he was the senior president of the municipal council of Annaberg-Buchholz. At the end of 1949 he withdrew from the committee for alleged health reasons and finally completely withdrew from political activity in 1952.

Weigel published some books with short stories in the Ore Mountains dialect , some of which he published himself .
