Maximilian Graf von Helmstatt

Maximilian Graf von Helmstatt (born May 29, 1810 in Paris , † December 23, 1893 in Neckarbischofsheim ) was a royal French cavalry master. From 1865 to 1870 he was a member of the Baden Estates Assembly .

Life

He was the younger son of August Raban von Helmstatt (1776-1842) and Henriette von Cetto († 1848). From his ancestors he inherited the French title of "Comte de Morhange " (Count of Mörchingen), but his father's debt economy had largely used up the estates in Lorraine, so that the family only had their estates in Hochhausen , Neckarbischofsheim and Handschuhsheim . When his father died, he shared his property with his older brother Karl Ludwig von Helmstatt (1807–1868). In 1844, together with his brother, he had the striking pyramid of the grave built for his grandfather Franz Ludwig von Helmstatt (1752–1841) at the Finkenhof above Hochhausen. After the death of his childless brother in 1868, Maximilian came into sole possession of the family estates. In 1890 he reconstructed the plans for the Alexander Castle in Bischofsheim , where he lived until his death. He was artistically gifted and various paintings from his hand have been preserved.

He was married to Augustine Freiin von Leoprechting (1823-1905), the couple had three children: Henriette (1843-1892), Raban (1844-1932) and Viktor (1851-1935).
