Maxine Corcoran

Maxine Corcoran (née Johnson; born September 22, 1954 , † November 29, 2011 ) was an Australian sprinter who specialized in the 400-meter run .

In 1978 she was eighth in the individual competition at the Commonwealth Games in Edmonton and won silver in the 4-by-400-meter relay .

At the Commonwealth Games in Brisbane in 1982 , she was eliminated over 400 m in the semifinals.

In 1978 and 1979 (with her personal best of 52.04 s) she became Australian champion.

After her active career, she worked as a trainer, most recently for middle-distance runner Kelly Hetherington . She succumbed to a brain tumor at the age of 57 .
