The house Maybachstraße 26 is a listed administrative building in Magdeburg in Saxony-Anhalt .

It is located in Magdeburg's Altstadt district on the east side of Maybachstrasse in the area of ​​the railway lines running through Magdeburg, not far from Magdeburg Central Station . It is part of the railway site and owned by Deutsche Bahn , which u. a. operates a training signal box.

Architecture and history

The two-storey building was probably built in the 1960s as a depot for what was then the Deutsche Reichsbahn , taking up the design language of the 1950s. It is part of a railway that is open to the east to the railway lines. The building stretches along Maybachstrasse. The center of the house is occupied by a striking central riser in which there is a gate passage. The facade is designed as a grid facade with standing windows and templates designed in the form of pilaster strips .

To the south of the building there is a hall at right angles to the house, which is connected to the administration building by a glazed corridor. There is also a building at right angles on the north side. This building, built on a rectangular floor plan, has three floors and a loading ramp . The reinforced concrete skeleton construction is provided with a facing of upright, terracotta-colored bricks.

The buildings are covered with clearly protruding flat roofs.

In the local register of monuments , the administration building is listed as a monument under registration number 094 18269 .

The building is considered to dominate the streetscape as important in terms of urban development.
