The Mbangala (also Bangala ) is a river in the southeast of the East African state of Tanzania .

The approximately 160 km long river has its source in the south of the Lindi region and flows south into the Mtwara region , where it flows into the Rovuma river near the village of Mesaula . The region near the estuary is protected as the Mbangala Forest Reserve .
