McCulloch's anemonefish ( Amphiprion mccullochi ) only occurs on the coast of Lord Howe Island in water depths of 2 to 45 meters. It lives in symbiosis with the bladder anemone ( Entacmaea quadricolor ).
features
McCulloch's anemonefish is nine to twelve centimeters long. The length is 1.8 to 1.9 times the body height. It is dark brown, almost black in color. On each side of the head there is a white horizontal stripe behind the eye. In adult fish, the stripes are not connected to one another on the top of the head. The caudal fin and the tip of the snout are white. All other fins are dark brown.
The dorsal fin has ten hard and 15 to 17 soft rays, the anal fin has two hard and 13 to 14 soft rays. The pectoral fins are supported by 20 to 21 rays. On the first gill arch there are 18 to 20 gill trap processes. The sideline is accompanied by 36 to 41 scales.
