McGregor is a town in the municipality of Langeberg , Cape Winelands District , Western Cape Province in South Africa . The city is 245 meters above sea level and has 3,125 inhabitants (as of 2011).
history
The city was founded in 1861 as the Lady Gray settlement. It only had about 50 residents over the next few years. To avoid confusion with the town of Lady Gray near Aliwal North , the name was changed in 1905. The city was named in honor of Reverend Andrew McGregor, who was pastor of the Robertson District for 40 years. In 1907, McGregor was granted town status.
