The McPhadyen River is an approximately 90 km long tributary of the Menihek Lakes , through which the Ashuanipi River flows, in the center of the Labrador Peninsula . It belongs to the river system of the Churchill River .

River course

The McPhadyen River forms the outflow of a nameless lake located about 585  m high near the border with Québec . It flows initially 20 km to the northeast, then 30 km in the east-northeast and the remaining 40 km in the east-southeast. The confluence with the flow-regulated Menihek Lakes is 42 km south of the Menihek hydropower plant.

Hydrology

The McPhadyen River drains an area of ​​3610 km². The mean discharge is 81 m³ / s. The highest monthly discharge usually occurs during the snowmelt in June with an average of 332 m³ / s.
