The McPhee Reservoir is a reservoir in Montezuma County in the US state of Colorado .

The reservoir was created in 1983–1984 through the construction of the 82 m high and 418 m wide McPhee Dam and the 19.5 m high and 579 m long Great Cut Dike . The hydropower plant, which went into operation in 1992, has a turbine with an output of 1.283 MW. Between September 1994 and January 1997 the power plant was out of order due to turbine problems. The planned annual energy production amounts to 36,578 GWh. In addition to generating electricity, the dam is used for flood protection .

The water from the dam is used to irrigate agricultural areas, to supply drinking water and as service water for industrial purposes. The reservoir is also used for local recreation and is beneficial both for the wild animals living there and for local fish species.

The 2110  m high reservoir is 400 km southwest of Denver near the Utah border . When fully jammed, it covers an area of 18.09 km².

The name of the reservoir is derived from the operator of a sawmill built at this location in 1924, the McPhee-McGinity Lumber Company .
