Coordinates: 41 ° 31 ′ S , 146 ° 51 ′ E The Meander Valley Municipality is a local government area (LGA) in the Australian state of Tasmania . The area is 3821 km² and has about 19,000 inhabitants (2016).
Meander Valley is located in the north of the island about 160 kilometers north of the capital Hobart . The area comprises 39 hamlets and villages: Blackstone Heights , Birralee, Bracknell, Carrick, Exton, Hadspen, Hagley, Jackeys Marsh, Kimberley, Liena, Mayberry, Meander, Mole Creek , Moltema, Montana, Needles, Oaks, Osmaston, Parkham, Prospect Vale, Quamby Bend, Quamby Brook, Red Hill, Reedy Marsh, Selbourne, Travelers Rest, Weegena, Westbury, Westwood and Whitemore. The seat of the council is in Westbury in the east of the LGA, where about 1500 inhabitants live (2016).

The Meander Valley Council has nine members. The mayor (mayor), his deputy (deputy) and seven councilors are directly elected by the residents of the LGA. Meander Valley is not divided into districts.
