The Meares-cliff is an edgy and 600 m high cliff on the Pennell coast of the east Antarctic Victoria Land . It rises 9 km west-northwest of Nelson Cliff . In its shape, it is similar to the neighboring Ponting cliff to the west .
It was mapped by the northern group of the Terra Nova Expedition (1910-1913) led by the British polar explorer Victor Campbell . The cliff is named after Cecil Meares (1877–1937), the sled dog handler on this research trip .
