Dylan Gambrell (born August 26, 1996 in Bonney Lake , Washington ) is an American ice hockey player who has been under contract with the San Jose Sharks of the National Hockey League since March 2018 and for their farm team , the San Jose Barracuda , from the American Hockey League plays on the position of the center .
Career
Gambrell first spent his junior years with the Colorado Thunderbirds in the Tier 1 Elite Hockey League . The striker made 40 appearances for the youth club in the 2011/12 season. After another four missions at the beginning of the following season, in which he had already scored twelve points , the immediate change to the United States Hockey League followed with the Dubuque Fighting Saints. They had chosen Gambrell in eleventh overall position in the USHL Entry Draft in the summer . With the Fighting Saints, the attacker won the Clark Cup in his rookie season . There followed two more playing years in the USHL before Gambrell moved to the University of Denver .
In addition to his studies, Gambrell played for the Pioneers , the university's ice hockey team, in the National Collegiate Hockey Conference , a division in the game operations of the National Collegiate Athletic Association , at the beginning of the 2015/16 season . In his first year, he scored 47 points in 41 appearances, which led to his being elected to the NCHC's all-rookie team. This was followed by more successful seasons, which brought him to the division's second all-star team in both years. This was rounded off by winning the national title in college gaming at the end of the 2016/17 season and the NCHC championship title the following year. After retiring from the championship in March 2018, Gambrell was signed by the San Jose Sharks of the National Hockey League , who picked him 60th in the 2016 NHL Entry Draft in the second round. At the end of the 2017/18 NHL season , he made his debut for the team in the NHL.
International
For his home country, Gambrell ran in the junior division of the 2014 World Junior A Challenge . There he was able to cheer with the US team after winning the gold medal after a final victory over Denmark. The striker scored one goal in four tournaments.
