Tim Heed (born January 27, 1991 in Gothenburg ) is a Swedish ice hockey player who has been under contract with the San Jose Sharks in the National Hockey League since May 2016 and plays for them in the position of defender . His father Jonas Heed was also a professional ice hockey player.

Career

Tim Heed began his career as an ice hockey player in the youth department of Södertälje SK - but as a striker . For his professional team, the defender made his debut in the Elitserien in the 2009/10 season . In his rookie year , he scored one goal in 27 games and provided nine assists. After the penultimate place in the main round, he and his team managed to stay in the Kvalserien . He contributed to this with four templates in ten games. Subsequently, the Swedish junior international was selected in the NHL Entry Draft 2010 in the fifth round as a total of 132 players by the Anaheim Ducks . In the 2010/11 season he played in the main round mostly as a loan player for the Växjö Lakers in HockeyAllsvenskan , the second Swedish division. In the Kvalserien he was relegated to the second division with Södertälje SK.

For the 2011/12 season , Heed joined the Swedish second division team Malmö Redhawks . After the end of the season, he first signed a contract with the Växjö Lakers, who were promoted to the Elitserien in 2011. A few weeks later he also received an NHL entry contract from the Anaheim Ducks, but was loaned to the Lakers for the 2012/13 season, which, however, loaned him to VIK Västerås HK a short time later . In the summer of 2013, the loan contract was transferred to Skellefteå AIK , with which Heed was Swedish champion . For the following season he was firmly committed. Heed paid back the trust with 37 scorer points in 50 missions, which brought him the Salming Trophy as the best defender in the league at the end of the season . He was also runner-up with Skellefteå. The team repeated this success with Heed in the following year.

After the 2015/16 season , the defender decided to move to North America and signed a one-year contract with the San Jose Sharks from the National Hockey League . There he spent the first half of the season exclusively in the Sharks farm team , the San Jose Barracuda , in the American Hockey League . After he had 31 scorer points in the first 28 missions up to the beginning of January 2017 and the defense of the San Jose Sharks was plagued by various injuries, Heed was appointed to the NHL squad San Joses for the first time. He finally made his debut there on January 11th. However, he spent the rest of the season in the AHL and was appointed to the Second All-Star Team at the end of the season .

International

For Sweden's U19 and U20 juniors , Heed played various friendly matches in 2009 and 2010. He also played for Sweden in the tournaments of the Euro Hockey Tour between 2014 and 2016 .
