- Washington, DC , United States : After the renegotiations under pressure from the US government under Donald Trump , the neighboring states Canada and Mexico agree on the new free trade agreement United States – Mexico – Canada Agreement (USMCA) as the successor to the North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA). NAFTA will remain in force until the new free trade agreement is ratified by its member states and the presidents of the three states sign the treaty at the end of November 2018.
