Primera Air Scandinavia A / S (formerly Primeria Air and JetX ) was a Danish charter airline based in Billund and based at Billund Airport . Bankruptcy was filed on October 1, 2018 .

Primera Air was founded in September 2003 under the name JetX and began flight operations in May 2004 with a McDonnell Douglas MD-82 . Another MD-82 joined the fleet in June 2004, and a McDonnell Douglas MD-83 was added in July 2005 .
The Primera Travel Group took over 60% of the airline in February 2006. In September of the same year, JetX leased a Boeing 737-800 from Austrian Airlines . Another Boeing 737-800 joined the fleet in April 2007. At the same time, JetX started charter flights from Keflavík . JetX opened charter operations in Stockholm and Gothenburg in May 2007 with two further 737-800s .
JetX started long-haul flights from Scandinavia to Asia in November 2007 with a Boeing 767-300ER . One destination was, for example, Phuket . At that time, JetX employed around 50 people. The service to Asian destinations was discontinued in mid-April 2008.
In October 2008 the company was renamed Primera Air . Seat of the airline was Kópavogur . One year later, in October 2009, Primera Air Scandinavia took over the flight operations of the Icelandic Primera Air. The fleet was registered in Denmark and the home airport relocated to Billund .
In September 2014 a subsidiary called Primera Air Nordic was founded with headquarters in Riga . It operates flights on behalf of Primera Air Scandinavia and tour operators.
On May 11, 2017, Primera Air Scandinavia ordered eight Boeing 737 MAX 9s including four options. In addition, eight aircraft from Air Lease Corporation will be leased to Primera Air Nordic . They should be used on flights to the US east coast . On October 1, 2018, Primera Air announced at short notice that it was bankrupt and that it would cease flight operations from midnight.
Destinations
Primera Air Scandinavia flew to holiday destinations in the Mediterranean and the Canary Islands in cooperation with tour operators . Primera Air Scandinavia also served destinations in the USA and Canada from London and Paris .
