Internord Aviation A / S (externally trading as Internord ) was a Copenhagen- based Danish charter airline that ceased operations in 1968.

history

Internord put their first Convair CV-990 into service in the summer of 1967.

The Inter Nord Aviation A / S was on 30 November 1965 as a joint venture of the Swedish Osterman charter ( OAC ) and the Danish Aero-Nord founded. Both companies had a half share in the new company and ceded their charter contracts and four Douglas DC-7s each to Internord . To this end had to Aero-Nord purchase an additional machine. The Internord aircraft remained the property of the companies involved, so that four Douglas DC-7s each had a Swedish and Danish registration. The employees continued to be employed by the parent companies. The Inter North was legally a Danish company, but at the airports Kastrup and Stockholm / Bromma was located and used the local technical facilities of the two parent companies.

The start of flight operations took place on January 1, 1966. At the same time, Aero-Nord and Ostermanair-Sweden stopped their charter services on December 31, 1965. The aircraft that had been transferred were initially not given a new paint job, so that the company name Internord only became visible on the outside from April 1, 1966 (with the start of the summer flight schedule). The company operated tourist charter flights (IT charter) on behalf of Danish and Swedish tour operators in the Mediterranean region and the Canary Islands and also used its aircraft for occasional flights (ad hoc charter) within Europe.

In the fall of 1966, the company planned to buy three Boeing 727-100QCs that World Airways had ordered but not accepted by the manufacturer. The procurement of these machines could not be financed. Instead, Internord acquired three Convair CV-990 jet aircraft from American Airlines in February 1967 through its parent companies . The first machine was handed over on June 23, 1967 and used in flight operations from June 28. The second and third Convair 990s were delivered in November 1967 and March 1968, respectively. Because it was not possible to use the jet aircraft from the short runway at Bromma Airport, Internord opened another base at Stockholm / Arlanda Airport .

The company was only able to use the 149-seat Convair CV-990 at times. In addition, the maintenance of these machines was very costly and time-consuming, so that the financial situation of the company deteriorated increasingly in the course of 1968. On October 30, 1968, Internord Aviation stopped flight operations for economic reasons. The company was subsequently liquidated.
