Maurizio Fugatti (born April 7, 1972 in Bussolengo ) is an Italian politician of the Lega and since 2018 governor of Trentino .

Fugatti, who lives in Avio in Trentino, studied economics and tax policy at the University of Bologna and is a registered auditor and tax auditor . He also has a degree in agricultural engineering specializing in viticulture , which he graduated from the Institute of Agricultural Sciences in San Michele all'Adige .

Fugatti began his political career as a local politician in the ranks of the Lega Nord in Avio. From 2005 to 2018 he was party secretary of Lega Nord in Trentino. In the 2006 parliamentary elections , he was elected to the Chamber of Deputies for the first time for Lega Nord . He was able to take his seat in the parliamentary elections of 2008 for the XVI. Confirm legislative period. From 2007 to 2015 he was also a member of the municipal council in Avio.

In May 2018, at the suggestion of party chairman Matteo Salvini, he was reappointed as the Lega's top candidate for the office of governor for the regional elections in Trentino 2018 .

On October 21, 2018, he was elected Governor of the Autonomous Province of Trento with 46.47% of the vote. On February 27, 2019, he became a member of the regional government of Trentino-South Tyrol as Vice President .
