Ugo Rossi (born May 29, 1963 in Milan ) is an Italian politician ( PATT ) and was the governor of Trentino from 2013 to 2018 .

Life

Rossi grew up in Milan. His parents, who come from Ossana in Val di Sole in Trentino , emigrated to Milan in the 1950s. After completing his law studies , he worked in the insurance industry in Milan and Verona . In 1995 he moved privately to Lavis , where he still lives. In 1997 he became head of personnel for the operating company of Ferrovie Trento-Malé .

In 1999 Rossi joined the Trentino regional party Partito Autonomista Trentino Tirolese and entered the Lavis commune council as a local politician. In 2005 he took over the office of party secretary, which he held until 2012, after having previously taken on various tasks in the party's presidium. After the victory of the center-left coalition in the elections for the Trentino regional parliament in 2008, Rossi was appointed assessor for health and social affairs in the XIV legislative period .

In the subsequent state elections on October 27, 2013 , Rossi's coalition won 58% of the votes under his leadership, and he was elected Governor of Trentino ( Italian Presidente della Provincia Autonoma di Trento ) for five years . Since the retirement of the long-time incumbent Lorenzo Dellai in December 2012 , he took up the post on November 9, 2013, provisionally led by Alberto Pacher .

In 2014 Rossi was also elected President of the Trentino-South Tyrol region . Halfway through the 2016 legislative period, he was replaced in this position by the South Tyrolean governor Arno Kompatscher and Rossi took over the vice-presidency of the regional government .

In the 2018 Trentino state elections , Rossi only got 12.42% of the vote. Maurizio Fugatti was his successor as governor of Trentino .
