Margherita Cogo (born October 2, 1951 in Tione ) is an Italian politician.

After studying philosophy at the University of Padua , she worked as a teacher for some time. In 1985 she was elected to the council of her home town of Tione for the PSI . In 1990 she was re-elected, this time as a candidate on a citizens' list, and in 1993, with the help of the center-left majority, she won the office of mayor. In 1995 she was confirmed in office.

In 1998 she was elected to the Regional Council for the Democratici di Sinistra , and in 1999 she became President of the Trentino-Alto Adige Region and thus chairwoman of the majority of the center-left parties, the Autonomists ( Partito Autonomista Trentino Tirolese ) and the SVP Regional government chosen. She held this office until 2002.

In the state elections in 2003 she was re-elected as Vice President of Trentino and Assessor for Culture in the regional government. In 2008 Cogo was again able to win a mandate for the Trentino state parliament, this time for the Partito Democratico . From 2009 to 2011 she was a member of the regional government of Trentino-South Tyrol as an assessor .
