Carlo Andreotti

Carlo Andreotti (born May 21, 1943 in Trento ) is an Italian politician , lawyer and journalist .

Life

After studying law and gaining admission as a lawyer, Andreotti first became a journalist. He worked for the daily newspaper l'Adige and the RAI , where he was promoted to head of department.

In January 1988 the Partito Autonomista Trentino Tirolese party was founded. Andreotti was elected to the state parliament and party secretary for the PATT that same year. From 1994 to 1999 he was governor of Trentino , from 1997 to 1999 chairman of his party, from 2002 to 2004 he was president of the Trentino-Alto Adige region of the regional government . In 2003 Andreotti was the top candidate of the center-right alliance Casa delle Libertà and his new party Trentino Autonomista in the elections for the office of governor and received 30.7% of the vote. In 2008 he left the state parliament.
