Bruno Kessler (born February 17, 1924 in Cogolo di Peio , † March 19, 1991 in Trento ) was an Italian politician .

Kessler attended high school in Rovereto and then completed a law degree at the University of Padua , which he graduated in 1950. Professionally, Kessler worked as a lawyer, together with Flavio Mengoni he ran a law firm.

In 1956 he was elected to the regional council of Trentino-South Tyrol for the first time on the list of the Democrazia Cristiana . From 1960 to 1974 Kessler was President of the Province of Trento , during his term of office the acquisition of the autonomy of Trentino fell in 1972. From 1974 to 1976 he was President of the Region Trentino-Alto Adige of the regional government .

From 1976 to 1983 Kessler was a member of the Democrazia Cristiana in the Italian parliament, in the first government of Francesco Cossiga from 1979 to 1980 he served as undersecretary in the Ministry of the Interior. He was a senator from 1983 to 1991 .

Kessler made a contribution to the educational system in Trentino by founding the Istituto Trentino di Cultura in 1962 , from which the University of Trento would later emerge. His son Giovanni Kessler is also a lawyer and politician.

The non-profit scientific organization Fondazione Bruno Kessler in Trento was named after Kessler.
