William T. Byrne

William Thomas Byrne (born March 6, 1876 in Florida , New York , † January 27, 1952 in Troy , New York) was an American politician . Between 1937 and 1952 he represented New York State in the US House of Representatives .

Career

William Thomas Byrne attended public schools. He graduated from Albany Law School in 1904 . He began practicing in Albany after receiving his license to practice the same year . Between 1923 and 1936 he was a member of the New York Senate . Politically, he belonged to the Democratic Party .

In the 1936 congressional elections for the 75th Congress , he was elected to the House of Representatives in Washington, DC in the 28th  constituency of New York , where he succeeded Parker Corning on January 4, 1937 . He was re-elected three times in a row. In 1944 he ran in the 32nd electoral district of New York for the 79th Congress . After a successful election, he succeeded Hadwen C. Fuller on January 4, 1945 . He was re-elected three times in a row, but died before the end of his last term on January 27, 1952 in Troy. His body was buried in St. John's Cemetery in the Village of West Albany ( Town of Colonie ).
