Luther W. Mott
Luther Wright Mott (born November 30, 1874 in Oswego , New York , † July 10, 1923 there ) was an American politician . Between 1911 and 1923 he represented New York State in the US House of Representatives .
Career
Luther Wright Mott attended public schools and graduated from Harvard University in 1896 . Then he worked in banking in Oswego. He was named State Superintendent of Banks in 1907 , but resigned after five working days. Politically, he belonged to the Republican Party . In 1908 he took part as a delegate at the Republican National Convention . He was President of the New York State Bankers' Association in 1910 and 1911 .
In the 1910 congressional elections for the 62nd Congress , Mott was elected to the US House of Representatives in Washington, DC in the 28th constituency of New York , where he succeeded Charles L. Knapp on March 4, 1911 . In 1912 he ran in the 32nd electoral district of New York for the 63rd Congress . After a successful election, he succeeded Henry G. Danforth on March 4, 1913 . He was re-elected five times in a row, but died before the end of his last term on March 10, 1923 in Oswego. His body was buried in Riverside Cemetery .
