The Bandy Federation of Finland (Finnish: Suomen Jääpalloliitto, SJPL ; Swedish: Finlands Bandyförbund, FBYF ) is the national bandy federation in Finland. It was founded in 1972 and is a member of the world bandy organization, the Federation of International Bandy (FIB).

history

The Bandy Association of Finland was founded on March 18, 1972. Previously, the organization of the bandy in Finland was the responsibility of the Suomen Palloliitto Football Association (SPL). The SPL was a founding member of the world association FIB in 1955.

The association organized the world championships in 1975 , 1983 , 1991 and 2001 (together with Sweden). In addition, Finland hosted the first World Cup in 1957 and the World Cup in 1967 before the SJPL was founded . In 2004 Finland also hosted the first women's world championships.

National teams

The Finnish national bandy team of men has always placed in the top four at world championships . The only world championship title was won in Sweden in 2004.

The Finnish women's bandy national team won the bronze medal at the 2004, 2008 and 2012 women's world championships .
