1957 World Bandy Championship
The 1st Bandy World Championship was held from February 28 to March 3, 1957 in the Helsinki Olympic Stadium. This was the venue for the Summer Olympics in Finland in 1952 .
Three national teams, namely Sweden, the Soviet Union and the host Finland, took part in the tournament. Norway, which originally also wanted to take part in the World Cup, withdrew because of the unrest in Hungary in 1956 and the participation of the Soviet Union. The winner was played in the group system. There were three games in total.
venue
The venue was the Olympic Stadium in Helsinki , which was built for the 1940 Summer Olympics . Since the Games could not be played in 1940, it was not until 1952 that the Summer Olympics were held. The stadium in the Töölö district has 40,000 seats and was designed by architects Yrjö Lindegren and Toivo Jäntti .
