Swedish men's bandy national team
The Swedish men's national bandy team is a representative selection of Swedish bandy players for international games made by the association coach .
The team played their first country comparison on February 23, 1919 in Helsinki against the Finnish hosts, who won the game 4-1. In the following years Finland remained the only opponent against whom Sweden won their first draw with a 3-3 in Stockholm in 1920. The first victory for the Swedish selection came three years later with a 5-3 in Helsinki. It was not until 1927 that Sweden also played against Norway , which was defeated by the Swedes in most of the games.
At the Olympic Winter Games in Oslo in 1952 , bandy was a demonstration sport. The Swedish team won the gold medal in this tournament. From 1957 world championships in bandy were organized, which were initially won exclusively by the Soviet team, until Sweden was able to break this trend in 1981. Sweden then also won the World Cup tournaments in 1983, 1987, 1993, 1995, 1997, 2003, 2005, 2009, 2010 and 2012.
