Somali national bandy team of men

The Somali men's bandy national team presents Somalia at international games in a bandy . Somalia became the first African team to take part in the World Bandy Championship in 2014.

The team consists of Somali refugees who live in Borlänge , Sweden . In order to better integrate the refugees into society, the team was set up on the initiative of the citizen Patrik Andersson. The Swedish bandy legend Per Fosshaug has been the team's trainer since May 2013.

In the team's first international match at the 2014 Bandy World Cup in Irkutsk , Russia , Somalia lost 1:22 in front of around 700 spectators against the German national team, which was also making its debut . Hareo Anwar scored the meanwhile 1: 9 and thus the first goal for Somalia. Somalia finished 17th out of 17 participants.
