US men's national bandy team
The United States men's national bandy team presents the United States in international bandy games .
history
The American Bandy Association was founded in 1981 and became part of the International Bandy Federation . On November 5, 1983, the selection played their first international match against Norway. The United States lost the game played in Oslo 6-1. In 1985 the Americans made their World Cup debut in Norway. But it was not until 1991 that they won the first World Cup, when all three newcomers - Canada, Hungary and the Netherlands - were defeated. The team ranked sixth or seventh place at world championships in the following years, which means that the team repeatedly played in the A group. In 2009 the Americans lost the relegation game for promotion to the A group against Belarus, but since Belarus did not participate in the World Cup in 2010, the United States played again in the House of Lords until 2012. In 2012 there was no more relegation game and the team was relegated sixth and last in the A-World Cup. In 2014, the United States returned to top notch due to a reform of the mode of play. In addition, a 5-5 win against Norway in the group stage won a point against one of the classic bandynations (Russia, Finland, Norway, Sweden) for the first time. In the final game for fifth place, the Americans lost 3: 6 against Norway.
