Otterbäcken is a place ( Tatort ) in the Swedish province of Västra Götalands län and the historic provinces of Västergötland and Värmland .

The place is about 30 kilometers northeast of the city of Mariestad am Vänern in the municipality of Gullspång .

Otterbäcken was an important transshipment point for pig iron and wood on Vänern from an early age. With the construction of the railway, the place and the port grew rapidly in the 19th century. The place is the only natural deep water port in Vänern and one of the largest Vänern ports with a trading volume of over 500,000 tons per year.
