Hova is one of the two main towns in the Swedish municipality of Gullspång (together with Gullspång ). The place is located about 30 kilometers northeast of the city of Mariestad on Europastraße 20 and has 1254 inhabitants (2015).

A battle took place near the place in 1275, in which King Valdemar Birgersson was defeated by his brother Magnus Ladulås with the support of Danish knights.

On this occasion, a knight week takes place every July in Hova, which has become a tourist attraction.

To the northeast of Hova there are five judge rings on the burial ground of Lilla Hederna.
