Soviet men's bandy national team

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Soviet men's bandy national team presented the Soviet Union at international games in a bandy . The Soviet Union took part in 17 World Bandy Championships from 1957 to 1991 , always winning one medal, including 14 gold.

Up to and including 1979 the Soviet Union won all titles at world championships, until 1975 it had never even conceded a World Cup defeat. At the World Cup in 1981, Sweden was the first time another nation became world champions, although the Swedes were only able to secure the title thanks to the better comparison. In 1983 the Soviet Union won the preliminary round match against Sweden 2-1, but lost in the final 3: 9. After gold number 12 in 1985, the first world championship followed in 1987, in which the Soviet Union missed the final. In the preliminary round, the team lost 2: 4 to Finland and 2: 3 to Sweden and thus only qualified for the small final, in which they defeated Norway. In the last two world championships in 1989 and 1991, the Soviet Union won the title again twice.
