Matthew Francis McHugh (born December 6, 1938 in Philadelphia , Pennsylvania ) is an American politician . Between 1975 and 1993 he represented New York State in the US House of Representatives .

Career

Matthew Francis McHugh attended St. Thomas Aquinas Elementary School in Brooklyn . Graduated from Brooklyn Technical High School in 1956 . He received his Bachelor of Science degree from Mount St. Mary's College in Emmitsburg ( Maryland ) in 1960 and his Juris Doctor degree in 1963 from Villanova Law School in Villanova (Pennsylvania). After receiving his bar license in 1964, he began practicing in New York City . In 1968 he was a prosecutor ( city ​​prosecutor ) in Ithaca and between 1969 and 1972 district attorney in Tompkins County . Politically, he belongs to the Democratic Party .
