Meredith Mallory

Meredith Mallory (born January 31, 1781 in Watertown , Connecticut , † September 22, 1855 in Batavia , Illinois ) was an American lawyer and politician . Between 1839 and 1841 he represented New York State in the US House of Representatives .

Career

Meredith Mallory was born in Litchfield County during the Revolutionary War . He attended community schools. In 1820 he was a supervisor in the town of Benton in Yates County . He then moved to Hammondsport in Steuben County . There he owned and operated a mill. He held several local offices. In 1835 he was a member of the New York State Assembly . He served as a justice of the peace in 1838. Politically, he belonged to the Democratic Party .

In the 1838 congressional elections for the 26th Congress , Mallory was elected to the US House of Representatives in Washington, DC in the 27th  constituency of New York , where he succeeded John T. Andrews on March 4, 1839 . He retired from the after March 3, 1841 Congress of.

Mallory died on September 22, 1855 in Batavia and was then buried in West Batavia Cemetery in Kane County .
