Howard Winfield Robison (born October 30, 1915 in Owego , New York , † September 26, 1987 in Rehoboth Beach , Delaware ) was an American politician . Between 1958 and 1975 he represented New York State in the US House of Representatives .

Career

Howard Winfield Robison was born in Tioga County during World War I. He attended public schools in Owego. He graduated from Cornell University in 1937 and from the law school of the same university in 1939. After receiving his license to practice law in 1939, he began practicing in Owego. Between 1942 and 1946 he served in the United States Army Counter Intelligence Corps. Then he was from 1946 until his election to the US House of Representatives County Attorney in Tioga County. Politically, he belonged to the Republican Party .

He was elected to the 85th Congress in a by-election in the 37th  constituency of New York to fill the vacancy created by the resignation of William Sterling Cole . He took his seat in the US House of Representatives on January 14, 1958. In the 1958 congressional elections , he was elected to the 86th Congress . He was then re-elected once. In 1962 he ran in the 33rd constituency of New York for the 88th Congress . After a successful election, he succeeded Clarence E. Kilburn on January 4, 1963 . He was re-elected four times in a row. In the congressional elections of 1972 he ran successfully in the 27th constituency of New York for the 93rd Congress , where he succeeded John G. Dow on January 4, 1973 . Since he on a run again in 1974 renounced, he left the after January 3, 1975 Congress of.

Between 1975 and 1987 he was Vice President of Congressional Relations with the Association of American Railroads . He lived in Rehoboth Beach until his death on September 26, 1987. His body was then interred in Evergreen Cemetery in Owego.
