Gale Hamilton Stalker (born November 7, 1889 in Sullivan County , New York , †  November 4, 1985 in Palm Beach , Florida ) was an American politician . Between 1923 and 1935 he represented New York State in the US House of Representatives .

Career

Gale Stalker attended his home public schools and then Scranton Business College in Pennsylvania . He later graduated from a few night schools in New York City . He then moved to Elmira in Chemung County , where he worked in the wood industry and banking. At the same time he embarked on a political career as a member of the Republican Party .

In the 1922 congressional elections , Stalker was elected to the US House of Representatives in Washington, DC in the 37th  constituency of New York , where he succeeded Lewis Henry on March 4, 1923 . After five re-elections, he was able to complete six legislative terms in Congress by January 3, 1935 . In this time fell from 1929 global economic crisis . The Roosevelt government passed the first New Deal laws in 1933 , which Stalker's party was rather hostile to. In 1935 the provisions of the 20th Amendment to the Constitution were applied for the first time , according to which the legislative period of the Congress ends or begins on January 3rd.

In 1934, Stalker waived another congressional candidacy. After his time in the US House of Representatives, he withdrew from politics. He died on November 4, 1985 in Palm Beach, where he spent the last years of his life.
